Should I Update to newer version 3.0?

Actually WooCommerce has recently released update which includes many changes in this version. Which really has many new features and you might be in hurry to update and enjoy these new features. But we strongly recommend you not to update to this version, you might be wondering Why? Let me tell that this update includes many changes, which might not support by your currently running theme and if you update to this version you might get some problem to your currently running store, so first let the theme company to release an update for new version of WooCommerce  and once your theme company update their theme then you can update to new version of  WooCommerce and enjoy with new features.

What to do if you accidentally updated to new version?

If you accidentally updated to newer version of WooCommerce, you may get some errors saying:

Your theme (ThemeName) contains outdated copies of some WooCommerce template files. These files may need updating to ensure they are compatible with the current version of WooCommerce. You can see which files are affected from the system status page. If in doubt, check with the author of the theme.

This is just formal message to warn you to update the theme and you might be seeing some issue in single product page or this might be somewhere else. If you would like to fix this soon until theme company release an update for this, you just have to downgrade your version of WooCommerce, for this you can use the plugin “WP Rollback” which will help you to easily roll back to your older version of WooCommerce and you can again get back your previously managed store back.

Quick Fix For Your new WooCommerce gallery

If you update your WooCommerce most common issue you will face is with the new gallery of WooCommerce. Don’t panic if your theme is still not updated and you want to fix your messing gallery by your self then there is few thing you should do.

  • Go to your theme file(wp-content/themes/your theme/functions.php) and find the file named “functions.php”
  • Edit the file in text editor and find for code add_theme_support( ‘woocommerce’ );
  • After that line just add the following lines of code

add_theme_support( ‘wc-product-gallery-zoom’ );
add_theme_support( ‘wc-product-gallery-lightbox’ );
add_theme_support( ‘wc-product-gallery-slider’ );

Adding the above lines of code will enable newly designed WooCommerce gallery features without any trouble.
